Every once in a very long while the planets align just right or something, and fortune falls remarkably in my favor. One example happened in August 2019. I won the new Yorker Caption Contest!
Then, in January 2022 – I won the New Yorker Caption Contest again!

A good bit of the credit again goes to Beth Lawler’s Facebook group, New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest Rejects (and Enthusiasts). Lot’s of really funny people there to draw inspiration from. I’m convinced that anyone serious about competing in the contest should be a member.
I’d like to also extend much of the credit to my good friend Olive, our family dog, who is always prepared to walk.
A remarkable thing about this win was second-place winner Lawrence Wood. Lawrence is the undisputed Greatest of All Time, with seven NY wins at the time of this post – the same number as Tom Brady super bowl wins. I didn’t think I had much of a shot against Lawrence. I did think my caption was funnier, but I always think that. This must be how Eli Manning felt in winning the super bowl over TB-12.
So, not to brag, but … I won the New Yorker Caption Contest! Again!

It was a perfect caption. But I’d vote for anyone over Larry Wood. LOL
